A home, electricity, internet, food, safety, support from family – many things that are taken for granted by most people were not a given for me for a long time.
...
Before reaching the point where I am today, I was homeless for many years.
The early death of my father and the resulting financial situation led to me living without a permanent home as a young adult.
A reality I kept hidden for a long time out of shame and fear of disadvantage.
During this time, I learned a great deal about our society:
About prejudice...
About invisibility...
And about how quickly people are labeled.
Despite these circumstances, I did not want this to be the way my story ended and I wanted to meet my childhood friends again.
Inspired by the heroes of my childhood, I began teaching myself a wide range of skills, following their example.
Alongside my homelessness, I continued to educate myself as much I could, worked in different fields and pursued ideas that some initially laughed at – ideas that later paid off through persistence and time.
On top of it was not easy - My living conditions as homeless and its consequences often made things harder than they already were for the most people.
But with time and perseverance, a professional and social rise followed – one that continues to this day.
Today, I work as a magician, actor and digital creator and continue to be active in the banking and IT environment as well. This story is the reason why social engagement is especially important to me.
I want to use my skills and my reach to raise awareness for the situation of homeless people and other groups whose voices are rarely heard – and to show that it is possible to find your own path, even in the face of great obstacles.
Not through shortcuts. Not through deception. But through honest, thoughtful and consistent work. If my story is meant to show one thing, it is this:
“Never forget you dreams.
Sucess ist not a big step in the future.
But a small step today.”
